Kenneth R. Waddleigh Library

On September 26, 1994, the library at the Hoyle Elementary School was dedicated in honor of Mr. Kenneth R. Waddleigh, member of the Hoyle School Building Comittee.

Our beautiful library is run by parent volunteers and carries a large selection of titles. Students may check one book out per week. Books borrowed for more than two weeks will be considered overdue and a notice will go home.

Each class has it's own assigned library day and time.It is best to return library books on a student's assigned library day so they may be checked in by a library volunteer.

Students are responsible for the cost or replacement of lost or damaged books.

NEW BOOK ADVENTURE TEST PROGRAM

This is a new program for the Hoyle School that is similar to our old Accelerated Reader Program. It is an excellent program that encourages children to read more frequently & carefully. The kids are allowed to pick one book during their class library time to take home to read and enjoy. The following week the child will be able to take a computerized test  to earn points based on the number of correctly answered questions. Each Book Adventure book is marked with a sticker so the children will know what to look for. There are different point values for the books based on the level of difficulty for that book. As the children build their points they are able to reach certain prize levels and strive for the "GOLD" level. For more information check with your child's teacher or the library. Again, this is a new program for us and more details will be available as we get started!

The Scholastic Book Adventure Program is now up and running! Students will be taking Book Adventure tests in school but they may also go on the Book Adventure website at home to take tests. Because the program is set up online, school and home test scores are combined. Please be sure to look on the Hoyle School's website to see the list of tests that the Hoyle School has that are supported by the Book Adventure Program.
