Dear Parent or Guardian,

On Thursday, April 17th your child will have the opportunity to participate in a 7th grade field trip to see a BCC Theatre Rep production of Treasure Island and Tour the USS Massachusetts (Big Mamie). Students who have lost the privilege according to our handbook policy will remain at a Case Jr. High for the day.

The cost to participate in this field trip is $11.00 per student including transportation and fees to BCC and the Big Mamie. Any student who would not be able to participate due to financial hardship should please contact the Guidance Department promptly.

Students should bring a nutritious bag lunch and beverage for the day.  Refrigeration is not available, so please prepare lunches accordingly. Students should dress appropriately in accordance with dress for school classes. This is a play and tour of a ship with limited physical activity.  The BCC performance is an ELA classic encompassing Social Science and clever use of language and plot manipulation. The USS Massachusetts not only offers opportunities to explore our historical efforts in World War II, but also compare technologies of Naval Warfare.

Seventh Grade student’s will return to their homerooms after their first period classes. They will depart Case Jr. High at 9:15 and arrive at BCC Theatre for the 10:00 AM performance. At noon the students will depart for Battleship Cove. Students may choose to eat lunches in route to the Big Mamie or at the Battleship Cove facilities. Students should keep in mind that the more time spent eating lunch at the Cove, the less time there will be for a tour of the ships. Busses are scheduled to leave the Bid Mamie at 1:15 and arrive at Case Jr. High at 1:45.

We are in need of a few (5 or 6) chaperons. Any parent or guardian wishing to attend must have a current CORI check. Volunteers would be on a first come, first serve basis.

Please complete the attached permission slip and have your child return it with the payment to his/her home room teacher on or before April 11, 2008. Checks should be make payable to Case Jr. High School.  If you have any questions about this field trip, please contact the administration or Mr. Jay Mello, or Mr. Joseph Kolakowski at (508) 675-0116.

Sincerely,
