August 2007

Dear Parents and Students:

The administration and staff at Joseph Case Junior High School are looking forward to the opening of the 2007-2008 school year.  I am looking forward to my third year as principal and working with Assistant Principal Mr. Kirkman to provide our students with the best possible educational experience.  We will continue to focus on providing a safe and nurturing educational atmosphere in which our students are able to demonstrate growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

The dedicated and committed faculty and staff at Joseph Case Junior High School will continue to provide quality academic, athletic, related arts, and extra-curricular activities to enhance your child’s middle school experience.  Our experienced and dedicated guidance staff will provide you and your children with the support and counseling necessary to foster student achievement and development.  I encourage you to communicate with our guidance staff and seek their assistance in a proactive manner to support your child throughout their middle school experience.  Your communication is vital in helping our staff best understand the needs of your child.  I urge you to share with us anything that your child may be experiencing that could possibly affect their academic achievement or personal well-being.  The best possible educational experience is that which is built on mutual understanding and respect, support, trust, and commitment.

Enclosed you will find a packet of very important information.  Please take the time to read all of the items carefully.  Your child will receive a “Student Agenda Book” on the first day of school.  This agenda book includes our school handbook with student/parent policies, Massachusetts Public School Regulations, and other important information to assist parents and students throughout the school year.  I encourage all parents to take the time to review the handbook with your child, as well as familiarize yourselves with the policies of the school.  The agenda book is also a vital tool to enhance and support communication between school and home.  Please take advantage of it.

You are invited to attend the Joseph Case Junior High School’s Parent Open House on Thursday, September 6, 2007, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  This event will provide you with an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers as you work through their Day 1 schedule.  Teachers will meet with you as a group and provide you with information including course content/curriculum and the requirements and expectations of each class.

We are looking forward to the 2007-2008 school year.  We thank you for your support and cooperation in the past and value its continuation into the future.  Our ability to provide your child with the best possible education is dependent on the communication, cooperation, and support that we provide each other.  I am proud to be the principal of Joseph Case Junior High School, and I am looking forward to an excellent year in education for all students at Joseph Case Junior High School.

                                                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                                                Robert G. Monteiro, Principal
