• Safety Policies

If you are picking your child up at the end of the school day, please drive down the middle lane and follow the path around the left side of the building.  All vehicles are asked to remain in line while the students exit the school.  Your child will come out in the order of the vehicles and proceed to your car.  All adults are asked to remain in their vehicles.
If anyone other than a child’s parent is to dismiss them from school, a note must be sent with your child that morning to inform the office of the change. A picture I.D. will be required when picking up a child.  For safety reasons, ONLY PARENTS/GUARDIANS are allowed to dismiss a child without written consent.
    Visitors and Late Arrivals
All visitors must check in at the main office and receive a visitor pass.  Prior to leaving the building, visitor's passes must be returned.  If your child is tardy for school (after 8:35am), parents must check in at the office and we will ensure that the student gets to class. If you would like to speak with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment first. We will make every effort to accommodate your schedule.
Please call the Transportation Department at 508-646-4400 with bus questions. Temporary bus switching is NOT ALLOWED (play-dates, etc.).
    Parking & Traffic Patterns
Please observe the ONE WAY, NO PARKING, & Handicap Parking signs posted. Also, please reduce your speed when traveling on school property. Drop-off and dismissal time can become very hazardous for children and parents if these safety rules are ignored.
During the morning drop-off, all vehicles should enter the parking lot and stay to the right. Students can begin exiting their vehicles when staff on duty give the signal beginning at 8:20am. It is expected that students will be dropped off at the designated area identified by a sign and vehicles are to remain in a single lane, continuing forward to the exit. Parents do not need to park and walk their child to the school or playground unless the child is unable to exit the vehicle by themselves. In this case, you will be asked to pull in (not back in) to a parking place to help your child exit the vehicle. Parents are asked not to congregate in the parking lot during arrival and dismissal times, as this hinders the flow of traffic exiting the lot. Your cooperation is appreciated in maintaining the safety of our students during these busy times of the day.
    Volunteering & CORI Checks
The E.S. Brown Elementary School is committed to developing each child's abilities to the fullest extent possible with all the available resources. Extra activities include School Spirit Days, Book Fairs, and various in-school programs and field trips. Parent volunteers assist with the library and PTO activities.
CORI checks and fingerprinting are required for all school volunteers and personnel. These must be done for safety reasons. We suggest doing this at the beginning of the school year as the turn around time can take weeks. You may come to the school to fill out the required CORI form during school hours or see Marlene Santos at the Swansea School Administration Office.
