Transportation Notice for 2025-2026 School Year

August 19, 2025

Dear Swansea Families,

As part of our ongoing efforts to responsibly manage the district’s budget and identify cost saving measures, we want to make you aware of an important change to our student bus transportation services. Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, our bus fleet will be reduced from 17 buses to 16.

This decision was made after extensive outreach to families through our transportation survey, emails, and phone calls. More than 300 families notified us that their children will not be utilizing bus transportation for the upcoming school year. Based on this information, we are confident that we can continue to meet the district’s transportation needs with 16 buses.

This change represents a significant cost savings for the district and helps us reduce expenses without impacting teaching and learning in our classrooms. We are deeply grateful to the families who responded to our outreach and supported this process.

Please note that this reduction in buses will affect some bus routes and bus stop locations. Families should not assume that bus stops and times will remain the same as in prior years. We are currently finalizing the updated routes and schedules, which will be posted on the district website by the end of the day on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Thank you for your continued partnership and understanding as we work together to provide both high-quality education and responsible management of district resources.

Sincerely,

Sean Scanlon
Director of Student Services

Opt Out of Transportation

Please help us keep the bus rosters accurate! If your student will not be taking Swansea transportation to/from school, please use the transportation request form to opt out.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and necessary for our Transportation Department to accurately assess the needs of the district and properly arrange routes and appropriate numbers of students on each bus/route.
