As a show of support, solidarity, and remembrance of second grade student Mason Stringer, countless students and staff across the district wore the color yellow, Mason’s favorite color. Classrooms, hallways, and school offices were filled with yellow as our school community came together in a powerful visual reminder that Mason will always be a part of us.

Dear Swansea Families and Staff,

As the 2025 year draws to a close and the holiday season is upon us, I want to take a moment to extend my thanks to every member of our Swansea school community. This time of year invites reflection, gratitude, and hope, and I am deeply appreciative of the care, commitment, and partnership that define us and the community.

To our dedicated staff: thank you for the countless ways you support, challenge, and inspire our students each day. Your professionalism, compassion, and belief in young people make a lasting difference far beyond the classroom.

To our families: thank you for your trust, collaboration, and support of our schools. Together, we strive to create an environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to grow.

As we look ahead to 2026, there is much to be hopeful about. We will proudly watch our high school graduates take their next steps, entering the workforce, serving in the military, pursuing higher education, and following many unique and meaningful paths. Their accomplishments are a reflection of a community that believes in them.

The coming year also brings an important opportunity as we continue our partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority and look toward a community vote on the future of a new Junior High School. This process represents not just a building project, but a shared investment in the learning environments and opportunities we provide for current and future generations of Swansea students.

As we celebrate this season, I hope you find time for rest, for joy, and for connection with those you hold dear. May the new year bring with it, health, peace, and renewed optimism as we continue our work together on behalf of the children and Swansea.

Thank you for being such an essential part of the Swansea Public Schools community. I look forward to all that we will accomplish in 2026.

Warmest wishes for a happy holiday season and a bright New Year.

Sincerely,

Scott C. Holcomb - Superintendent of Schools

Gardner Elementary and Joseph G. Luther Elementary are both Feinstein Leadership Schools who receive grant money to support their school based communities. This year, the Feinstein Foundation has provided both schools with $1000 to be used specifically to restock the food pantries to support families in need during this holiday season. Both Gardner Elementary and Joseph G. Luther Elementary collaborated with Stop and Shop to order non-perishable items that will be used to restock the school based food pantries.
